The Fanboys Lunchcast: Episode 28

Maracas–totally our idea

Episode 28: Credit Where It’s Due (34:35)

Featuring two-thirds of The Fanboys (Sooch threw his back out screwing your mom last night) taking full credit for Samba de Amigo coming to the Wii. Also: the last time we’re going to talk about Halo 3, some Phantom Hourglass chat, Orange Box gushing, the predictability of Nintendo’s release schedule, and the Kevin Smith Superman movie that never was.

digg the ‘cast!

    Greatest episode ever!!

on the orange box issue, get that thing on the pc if your pc can play it. its completely stupid to get the 360 version, and the ps3 one isnt even out yet. the pc gets constant patches, all the user created content (great for games like portal and team fortress). portal was an amazing game. worth buying orange box for it alone. tf2 is also one of the best multiplayer games ive played in a long time (better than halo by far) the whole thing on the pc is an amazing package. couldnt imagine it on console. (also, big ups for the cafe you were out playing third eye blinds jumper in the background)

Samba de Amigo on Wii; I remember that episode, great call there. Heavenly Sword and Warhawk as contenders for GotY; you’ve gotta be fucking joking.

    P.S.
Has anyone seen Kaz Hirai’s penis around here?

  4. Thrillhouse17 Says:

Portal is the most refreshing game I’ve played in a very very long time. Easily 60 bucks worth. Agreed. TF2 and HLs are nice bonus gifts.

  5. Silent G Says:

Yeah, even I cringed at my little comment about “Heavenly Sword and Warhawk” when Game of the Year came up. That thought wasn’t fully fleshed out. Although those titles are without a doubt two of my favorites up to this point, it is WAY too early to make that kind of call. We are absolutely drowning in riches already and it only gets better from here.

Frankly I would be surprised if either one of them is in my top five by the time the dust settles on the end of 2007. For example, I just started playing Ratchet and Clank and I can already say that I like it more than Heavenly Sword so far.

The next two months are going to be a delightful tsunami. I can’t wait for Mass Effect and Uncharted. (And Mario — There is a Nintendo fanboy still alive in me somewhere no matter how hard Nintendo may be trying to kill it.)

Here are the two blogs that I mentioned:

Good show again - you realise how much calmer the show is without Ssooch - I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing though. I think it’s just a different animal all together.

Oh and get the orange box already

  8. mik Says:

It’s a bad thing. Sooch is the wind beneath our wings.

I’m not so sure Heavenly Sword won’t be among my top five of 2007. For me it’s all about memorable moments and things I’ve not seen in games before. This year, those criteria point to Heavenly Sword, The Darkness, and Portal as top contenders.

Suzaku–I am feeling like a bit of a dope for not buying Orange Box on PC. I’ll probably double-dip on Portal just to take advantage of user-created content. Apparently people are still making levels for its predecessor, Narbacular Drop.

“Sooch is the wind beneath our wings.”

I never knew you were a fan of Bette Midler. You probably love Celine Dion and Mariah Carey as well.

  10. mik Says:

Replace Mariah Carey with Barbra Streisand and you’ve got me bang to rights.

  11. surfer girl Says:

The grammatical error in “such things that never was” was intentional. And thanks for what is, to my knowledge, the very first podcast mention of my blog. The McG/Abrams Superman film was completely written and was completely done in pre-viz, however McG’s aviophobia canceled the project (thankfully).

  12. Rik Says:

Has anyone seen Kaz Hirai’s aviophobia around here?

  13. volk Says:

Bang to Rights was actually Namco’s planned spinoff to its Dead to Rights series. They called off the idea when they realized the game’s expected AO rating would prevent it from being released on the consoles.

Take that, Surfer Girl! You’re not the only one with industry sources.

    Well, there’s your zinger. =D

  14. mystrymaster Says:

I will say there was a lot less Robot Porn without Ssoooch :)

  15. famous more timer Says:

Another great one, dicks. I sat and listened while playing the cod2 i mean cod4 single player. I had a blast.

    So many fucking good games!

Heavenly sword is top 5, i think. That game was really, really good. People who dont like it should be punched in the cockhole.

  16. TacoKid Says:

I’m not really sure why that after completely falling out of love with gaming (which consisted of actually playing games) one of the things I enjoy most is reading and listening to people talk about them.

That and Robot Porn keep me coming back for more. And stuff.

  17. Wessy Says:

“Heavenly Sword?” “MANCANNON?!?!” Nah, gaming isn’t gay at all.
